My name is 'Barkey' and I'm a dog of God. Like human babies, I was born into this world with a sense of innocence. Unlike human babies, I haven't lost my innocence as I've gotten older. I continue to love all humans, even when they treat me badly. I figure that my best path is to continue to love those who hurt and bother me, hoping that they'll change someday through my example of love.
We have so much fun together when they're not in the 'hurt mode'. Even at their best, though, my human friends slip up and behave poorly around me. I wish I could give them a bone or something when they do good things, like they do me. Yes, a reward for good behavior. God tells me that He has a reward for them. It's kind of a package deal, which includes forgiveness, love, grace and eternal life.
I admit I'm not perfect. I sometimes have trouble loving my neighbor dogs. I guess us dogs and humans are more alike than I thought. I guess dogs and humans need to live in ways that earn each of us our own kind of bone.
In His Kennel,
Barkey
